WIWW: Maxi from day to night + link up!

Seriously? Who doesn't love a good maxi dress? Loose, flowy, flattering on most body types, and simple. Simple, simple, simple. I think every girl needs a black maxi in her closet. Maxi's for 'merica, y'all!

Did I really just say that? Embarrassing. Anyways, here is how you can transition a maxi from day to night. I would normally add wedges to dress it up even more, but I was apparently too lazy to walk ten steps in the door to my closet and make the switch, so...ya.

Obviously I am delirious from all this teaching hoopla going on, but I cannot express how excited I am to start this school year! Driving home today I was thinking about how I have never been this excited for a job in my life. And I have never left work at six at night wishing I could stay longer. Work-life balance usually wins, but I am amazed how happy I am when I am in my classroom. I was never that happy sitting at my desk for 16 hours a day during my life as an accountant. It has been the biggest blessing to get out of stinky ole accounting :)

Randoms:

- Yesterday I mentioned how I would be posting a delicious recipe last night. I lied...it will be posted tomorrow. Sawwryyy.

- I cannot wait to show y'all my classroom! It is adorable and sports themed. Does that surprise anyone?

- My brother already secured an amazing job working for the stats department at his university. The boy loves sports, and has the brains for stats, so this is such a blessing. Did I mention school hasn't even started already and he already secured this position? The boy constantly amazes me. 

- My bedtime went from midnight to nine within one week....which made that five a.m. wake-up call not so painful. Chris is happy because now we are on the same sleep schedule. I, on the other hand, am not happy because I am missing all my shows!

My YEAR of NO shopping: Update

Read about my resolution and the reasoning behind it {here}.
Weddings, weddings, weddings. I feel like that is the only reason I have been dressing up lately.  To be honest, it is flipping hotter than you know what. Every outfit is planned on disguising sweat marks, and every hair style is based around an up-do. Even the dogs can't take the heat. I cannot believe that seven months are gone and I haven't bought any clothes. To say this journey has been life changing would be an understatement.  I know I say it every time, but I have become more humble than I ever thought possible. Even Chris is blown away that I have stuck to this challenge, and it has almost become fun to not shop. It is challenging to rediscover your own closet and everyone knows I love a challenge.  Getting down to the financial aspect of this resolution has been mind-blowing. Y'all, we have saved so much money. More than we ever have before and I know a lot of the savings comes from me not shopping. Here's the deal with girls and shopping. We don't just 'run' into the mall for one thing. We make a day of it. We go out to eat, we shop the entire mall, we hit up stores around the mall, and we buy for other people.  I used to go to the mall for a dress and come out with Starbucks, Dippin' Dots, a candle, a couple items for Chris, make-up, a scarf, a purse, a dress, and a shirt, and a pair of shoes. As you can see just the act of going shopping is expensive! Here are some tips on not going overboard when shopping: - Eat before you go. You won't be tempted by all the expensive mall food.  - If you have a shopping buddy, make sure they are honest. I have some friends who would tell me I look great in a trash bag and I know not to bring them shopping. I want honesty. Tell me if I look fat in that dress, or if it isn't my color. Having someone tell you that everything looks great on you only hurts your wallet, and you may not even be in love with the item. - Try to buy online. Buying online is awesome for saving. Not only are you more likely to use coupons, but you also are not tempted by all the other things in the mall. - Set a time limit, or go between activities. If you have nothing to do for the day, you have no time limit. Going shopping on your lunch break or one hour before closing is a great way to force yourself to not linger and buy tons of unnecessary items. - Have a budget. Really analyze how much you are wanting to spend before you go. - And my #1 rule. Carry the item around for at least 10 minutes before deciding on purchasing it. That really allows you to get over the "oh-my-gosh-I-NEED-this-so-bad" stage and clears your mind to let you realize if you really love the item. Only five months to go! Reason for the laugh: Bailey had just jumped up on the ledge and Wrigley tried right after her and he totally ate it. Poor pup, but he sure gave me a laugh!

Fair warning: the pictures in this post contain an unreal amount of winky eyes. The winker has gotten so bad I can't tell if it is the sun glowing as bright as my body in the summa-time, or if I have caught the winky in not only my left eye, but now my right. Oh geezzz, being a Tucker is tougher than I thought! But I wouldn't trade this winker for the world!

NOW, finally, "Gosh Sarah, get onnn-witcha-bad-self already!" Okay, okay onto the outfit. Last weekend I hung out with my childhood besties and I wanted a comfy outfit to go around town in...and an outfit comfy enough to gorge myself on Kirstin's homemade cookies without having to show off my cookie-gut. Yum. I have been looking to Pinterest for outfit inspiration since I have to make do with what is in my whole closet for a year thanks to me taking on 'the challenge'. 

Can I just say that looking at Pinterest when you aren't shopping for a year is like staring at the sun; you can do it for a second then it hurts! I see things on Pinterest and mark them on my "List of things to buy in 2014!" I won't evennnn begin to tell you how long that list already is. Em-bare-assing.

Let's start with these earrings. Ummm, hello emerald beauties for five dollars. Have you ever been to shoplately.com? Well I went (back in December! don't be gettin' your Spanx in a wad that I broke my resolution!) and was swooning over these babies! Aren't they gorg?! And for only five smack-a-roos I won't feel bad if I lose them, or only wear them occasionally.

This little black thanggg was Chris's sister's. She put it in the "garage sale" pile a couple years ago and I snatched it up like an eagle snatches up a baby...

The scarf...I am not a Mom yet, but I am sure I will do this for my child one day: My Mom and I were shopping at Market Days a couple months ago. She ran across this scarf and had it in her hand, ready to check out. I proclaimed how I LOVED it and had been searching for one like it and how I needed it...blah blah blah. It was the LAST one. So what does a perfect Mom do? Well she let's her daughter have it and says that she will "...find another one. There are plenty out there!" Mom, you are the best! Love ya long time (as in all my life...)!!

This was one of the comfiest outfits evaaaa. Got a little black dress? Some riding boots? I betcha do! Whip this outfit up in no time!

Well friends, another Wednesday down and another ski trip to attend tomorrow.

I know, I know, "how many times does this chick go skiing?!" and "doesn't she have a 'real' job in the corporate world?!" Actually my firm takes us on a ski trip to Crested Butte every year to thank us for our hard work! Awesome, if I do say so myself! So, tomorrow I will be boarding a chartered flight, with my other 200+ coworkers, headed from DFW to the gorgeous Colorado. I hope to get some posts up between now and then, but skiing and relaxing may take priority!
