Sweet Eats and Dog Treats

Tuesday, July 7, 2015

I think my love affair with Wrigley and Bailey is apparent on this blog. They are our only kids at the moment and I care for them just as I would (will) my own human children one day.

Another lady who does the same, Kait. You know what else Kait does? Write cookbooks that are just as sweet for you as they are for your pup.

Kait's cookbook focuses on gluten free sweets for you and your pup. They are quick and simple recipes and I love how Kait talks about the kitchen staples she recommends. One thing I dislike about some cookbooks is the need to go out and buy tons of ingredients I won't really have a need for. Kait's ingredients can be used in a variety of recipes!

Here is a sneak-peek at some of my favorite pages from the book:

Apple Nachos? Yes Please!

And congrats to Kait on this awesome accomplishment! Wrigley, Bailey, and myself (and our stomachs!) thank you so much for creating these yummy recipes!!

Kansas City Road Trip

Monday, July 6, 2015

Most people wouldn't dream of going on a solo road trip with their father-in-law. but, as we know, I'm not most people. So, last week when my FIL mentioned he was driving up to Kansas City to visit my sister-in-law, Lauren, I asked if he needed a riding buddy.

Now, not only was I blessed with great parents who I love and adore, but Chris's parents are more than I could have hoped for in a set of in-laws.

Wednesday came around and my FIL and I set out with a trailer in tow and KC as our destination. Lauren is getting married in August, so we were heading up there to move some of her furniture into he fiance's house and help remodel his bathroom.

After nine hours of travel on Wednesday, you can bet we were pooped when we got to Lauren's apartment.

Thursday we got up bright and early and headed to the house to get started. Lauren and her fiance both had to work, so it was just my FIL working away.

We unloaded the Uhaul and then got to remodeling. The only thing we thought we were doing was tiling the floors, but the whole house sort of got a revamp. This house has been a lived in by college boys for years now, so it needed a girl's touch.

Friday was more work, with the help of Lauren and her fiance. That night we got to attend their couple's shower which was at a family friend's house and decorated so cute!

All in all we ended up re-tiling the bathroom, ripping out the old vanity and counter and replacing it with a new one. Furnishing and decorating the main living room and sun-room. I don't have many before pictures, but just imagine a blank canvas with boy stuff spread throughout.

We bought the wrong size vanity, so this was their "put your happy face on" smile.

This is the best picture I got of the finished product!

Then before we knew it we were loaded up and headed back to Texas. My next road trip will be down to see my parents and I can't wait!

PS: I arrived home Sunday to find this mow job in the backyard. I think someone missed me :)

WIWW: A Classic Look + Link Up

Wednesday, July 1, 2015

I'm going with a classic Wednesday post and going to talk about some random things that have been going on lately.

- To me, this look takes all the classic pieces I have in my closet, and combines them into one great outfit. When my friend was taking these pictures, we kept talking about how great and comfy this outfit was!

- You know what's funny? I'm not even a soccer fan, yet I'm guilty of yelling at the tv while watching the Women's World Cup. I guess the competitive side of me just naturally gets into it, but by my shouting and hand gestures, you'd think I was a huge fan.

- The last two days I've had to wake up and go to a workshop a school and by the end of the day I feel like I've been hit by a bus. I can hardly keep my eyes open and all I want to do is lay around. It's amazing how quickly you can fall out of "work" shape.

- I've already worn this dress an embarrassingly high number of times.

- Does anyone watch Devious Maids? If you don't, you need to. So good.

- While we're on the topic of shows, I'm still hating The Bachelorette. It is terrible this season! I'm ready for Bachelor in Paradise!

Now for the link up!

- All I ask is you link back to my blog and link to a specific post.

- Write about something fashion related!
