Weekend Wrap: Birthday Weekend

Thanks for all the birthday wishes on Friday!
Year 23 is off to a wonderful start!
Friday at work was, thank God, easy. During this time of the year my days can be hit or miss. Friday was a hit! I went to lunch at Bread Winners with a group of co-workers. It was delicious and I even got a birthday cupcake!

I left work early in anticipation of  finally meeting Amber and her husband. Amber graciously invited Chris and I over for dinner on Friday, and I am so happy we accepted. Chris and Jordan were slightly weirded-out by the fact that their wives had set up a dinner when none of us had actually met in person. From the moment we walked in the door Chris and I felt like we had know Jordan and Amber for months. There was no small talk, or awkward pauses. Chris and Jordan talked about the "manly" stuff, while Amber and I "oooed" and "aaahhhed" over their precious twin girls. Talk about baby fever.

Amber runs the site Chocolate Broccoli and she is an ah-mazing cook! She had caprice skewers and spinach dip as an appetizer  Oh my goodness, heaven. For the main dish she whipped up her own recipe: a chicken-sausage-spaghetti concoction that was to die for. Chris approved, and he is the ultimate pasta judge. As if all she had done (while taking care of twins!) wasn't enough, her and Jordan surprised me with a White Chocolate Raspberry Nothing Bundt Cake. Seriously, the best cake ever. I got spoiled with Nothing Bundt Cakes while living in Flower Mound, so I was so excited to devour this one! White Chocolate Raspberry might be my new favorite flavor, but then again, everything I have had from there is amazing.
Besides eating, I loved on their babies all night long. I couldn't get enough of those two little angels. Chris and Jordan seemed to become quick friends, which was a relief to Amber and I. We already "knew" each other, but our husbands had just heard about one another. I'm sure there will be a fishing or hunting date between them in the future. We all go to the same church (different branches), Chris, Jordan, and Amber grew up in the same city, and we all like the same things, so I am sure this won't be our late dinner date!
Saturday got off to an early start. We were dog sitting out friend's pup, so I made the short drive to their house to feed and let Digby out. He is such a funny pup! While in Denton I decided to get my eye brows waxed at Ulta. Did you know Ulta has free eyebrow waxing if it is your birthday?! Well, let me rephrase that, they did have that! February is the last month and then they are doing away with the Birthday Brow. So sad. Luckily I got mine done just in the nick of time. I just love having flaming red skin surrounding my eye brows for the rest of the day. Love it. Ha!
Ok, before I tell you what else I did in Denton I want you to know I didn't break ANY rules.
I went to TJ Maxx and bought two sports bras and two pairs of yoga/workout pants with a gift card my parents gave me for my birthday. See, no rules were broken. I got a membership at a gym and it has been so long that I worked out more than one day in a row that I realized having one good sports bra and one okay sports bra wasn't going to work. I don't have big "thaaangs," but I still don't want my "thaaangs" not to be supported. I also only have two pairs of workout/yoga pants and I do not want to have to do a load of laundry every week just to have clean workout clothes. Now, I have plenty of workout pants and sports bras for the year! I have pleantttyyy of Nike running shorts, but with it still being a bit chilly, I like to wear yoga pant thingys...plus my thighs sometimes rub in shorts when I run...TMI? Ladies, you know what I am talking about. So awkward when you are running on a treadmill and you know that every .14 miles you are going to have to do the crotch grab to pull your shorts out because they have been riding up. Girl problems.
Oh, and I will pat myself on the back for resisting this section. Omg, so many cute shoes and clothes, but I bee-lined it for the workout gear. Got in and out and didn't fall to temptation! Score!
Saturday afternoon we headed to Chris's parents to pick up some deer meat that Chris was getting processed. We hung out for awhile and did some of a puzzle. Oh, and the "men" wrestled. Boys will always be boys no matter how old they are.

Saturday night I went to see Anjelah Johnson at the Majestic Theater. I went with some girl friends that I used to work with. It was so much fun! We went to the 7pm show, thank goodness, because this lame-o doesn't stay out late! I also ran into one of my besties that I went to camp with, Caroline. I just love her to pieces and I am so happy we ran into each other!
Sunday was just a normal Sunday....except it isn't every Sunday that Sarah does outside work. Somehow I got conned into trimming all out dead flowers/bushes in our front flower bed. About 10 ant bits later I finished and it looks so much better! The flowers we had last spring/summer are all ready to bloom again this year!
I also gave Chris a haircut. I think I have finally mastered it. Finally. It took a few goofy hair cuts, but now I can proudly say I did a better job than the new "I am fresh out of beauty school" stylists that Chris was letting cut his hair before me. I had pressure this time because Chris is leaving today to travel for work all week (wifecation!!), and I didn't want him to have a janky haircut while meeting with clients.

Sunday night was full of deer backstrap and the Grammy's. This was our "date" night before Chris leaves for the week.

Now it is Monday, back to the tax-season grind.
This weekend was so fun. From Friday night to Sunday night, I want to replay it all!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!

Is meeting and connecting with other bloggers in real life not the BEST thing in the world?! Thank goodness for blogging!!

My jealousy for your puzzle is through the roof. I'm pretty sure if we did one in our house we would lose a few pieces to the hound dog.
