10 Things Only Teachers Understand
Tuesday, April 7, 2015
1. When a kid says they're sick, reading class probably just started.
2. There are always two, or three, sides to every story. Then everyone involved ends up getting in trouble because no one can decide which story was right!
3. If you don't wear any make-up the students always assume you're sick. And they point it out first thing in the morning.
4. The amount of sugar consumed at lunch is equivalent to three sodas, or more.
5. You find half eaten foods stuck to homework and inside books. I found half a peppermint attached to math homework yesterday. Yum.
6. Forging your parent's signature will always lend you to getting in trouble. Especially when you sign the wrong last name for your mom.
7. You may wonder where your child learned a new word, saying, or just became knowledgeable about something you've never spoke about...the answer is: kids at school.
8. When you screen shot a students inappropriate comments on social media and show it to their parents. Ya, they delete that account quicker than they made it.
9. Your kids will wear an outfit and tell you, "This is a Mrs. Tucker outfit." For those wondering, the outfit was jeans, a trendy t-shirt, jean jacket, glasses, and Toms. That'd be my teacher uniform if I had to choose one!
10. As long as the days are, and as much as you lose your voice, want to call in sick, and have more than 20 minutes for lunch, there is no greater joy than being a teacher.
Weekend in the Hill Country
Monday, April 6, 2015
Last week I got word that my granddad wasn't doing too well, so I decided to head to my parent's house for the weekend. Chris and I were going to go down for the weekend on Saturday morning, but I had Friday off of school, so my best friend and I headed south after work on Thursday. Chris had to work Friday, so I just told him to skip out on this trip.
Friday my family and I went into Austin to visit my granddad. He is doing much better and we provided him with gut wrenching laughs, which made us all happy.
My Mom and I found my brother's stash of free college sunglasses, so we had a photo shoot in the backseat.
After visiting my granddad we went to eat at The Oasis in Austin. It was delicious and the scenery is something you can't imagine.
I had a terrible sinus infection that got worse as the day went on, so we headed home after dinner and I was out by 8:30pm.
I slept for 12 hours and awoke the next morning just in time for my Mom and I to head to market days. We love antique shopping! This trip was a hit and I can't wait to show y'all what I got!
After shopping we went to one of my favorite Mexican food places in Wimberley. Here in Dallas, REAL Mexican food is hard to come by, so when I am down in the Hill Country, I eat it for as many meals as possible.
Later Saturday afternoon I took a 2 hour nap (yes, even after sleeping for 12 hours...I really felt like poop) and then headed to watch my brother play in the alumni baseball game.
After the game we went and got more Mexican food and then I went to visit more family.
Sunday, my cousin and I got up early and drove back to Dallas. There was no traffic and we made it back in record time. Thank The Lord!
I still felt pretty bad Sunday, so I took another two hour nap while Chris cleaned and did the laundry. Bless him!
I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend!
WIWW: Stripes + Link Up
Wednesday, April 1, 2015
Spring is in the air and might I say that I think it is here to stay? I probably just jinxed it, but let's hope not.
This week has been so busy with our STAAR testing. If you've ever watched paint dry, that is what it is like monitoring a four hour test. At the end of the day you feel like you've been hit by a bus, yet you literally did nothing all day. But, my kids were awesome about having to sit there quietly!
I went outside yesterday for recess for about an hour and got burnt. Pale is the name of my skin game.
The dogs are still obsessed with the doggy door.
I plan on updating y'all soon on Whole 30.
I can't believe today is the first day in April. APRIL. Wasn't it just Christmas?
These white jeans are as close to pants heaven as you can get.
Other than a bunch of ramblings, this is all I've got for today. Life is busy, in a good way!
