1. How did you decide on your blog name?
This is really random, but with my new (at the time) last name Tucker, I tried to think of something that went with Tucker. Sometimes Chris and I would say "Pucker up!" when we wanted a kiss, so I thought that Tucker Up was a good play on words. I've thought about changing my blog name, but everyone always tells me that's a terrible idea, so no change has been made.
2. What tip would you offer new bloggers?
Be yourself. Don't promote something just because. Don't write a post just because. Don't do anything you don't feel in your heart. Followers will come. Page-views will come. Being fake will drive people away.
3. What was your dream job growing up?
Neonatologist. I love, love, love babies and wanted to help all the sick babies. In high school something changed and I could no longer stomach the thought of surgery or losing a patient, so out the door went all dreams of being a doctor.
4. What would you love to get paid to do now?
Be a teacher! I seriously love my job. If I wasn't a teacher, I would love to help kids in poverty get to college. I would also foster all the babies in the world, but Chris isn't convinced on that one yet.
5. What is your favorite season?
Fall. A true leaves-changing-crisp-in-the-air season. Not a Texas fall where we can still swim in November.
6. What is your favorite summer outfit?
A loose fitting dress. The humidity in Texas is unreal, so you sweat 24/7. You have to be prepared and make sure your outfit conceals all your sweat. And no, I don't "sparkle." I straight up drip sweat. No one in Texas "sparkles." We all look like we ran through a freaking sprinkler. It's a hot look. You should try it.
7. What is your favorite summer cocktail or mocktail?
Wine. Chris and I drink maybe once a month and we stick to what we like. We aren't big drinkers, so we never play with different concoctions. If I had my choice, truthfully, an ice cold Coke would win over wine any day.
8. Favorite summer memory?
Going to camp. I went to Camp Longhorn for 12 years and it was truly the best two weeks of the year, every year. Heaven on earth, for sure!
9. Who would play you in a movie about your life?
Probably Sandra Bullock. She usually tells it like it is, isn't too girly, has a tomboy side, and is hilarious.
10. What is your favorite tip for balancing all the "in betweens" in your life?
I'm probably not a good person to ask about this. I suffer from anxiety which has gotten worse as I've gotten older (thanks Dad! so glad I inherited this from you!), so I've spent many nights lying in bed thinking about how I'm going to balance life. The truth is, faith. Praying, talking to my family, and knowing that everything happens for a reason. God would never, ever bring you to something He didn't think you could get through.
I've had many "in betweens" in my life. From leaving a career I worked so hard for, to making a 180 to become a teacher. From buying, selling, and buying two houses in two years. From getting my master's degree, planning a wedding, working a corporate tax season, and buying a house ALL at the same time, I'd say I've had plenty of times of doubt.
Take one day at a time and talk to people. TALK TO PEOPLE. If I hold something in it only hurts me. Talking to people is key!
Thanks to Shelly for asking so many great questions!!

ReplyDeleteLove these and getting to know more about you.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for participating! I cannot imagine your blog name being anything else. I seriously just read your career change post and that is just the best story. Very inspiring even to this 40 something mom of 4!! I definitely struggled alot with anxiety when I was younger and it rears it's ugly head every so often but at some point something just clicked....I don't know if I just got way too busy or just learned to lean on my faith more but I definitely can talk myself down much easier now than when I was in my 20's and early 30's. You are precious and I love following along.
ReplyDeleteI love posts like this! It's so fun getting to know other bloggers, and for the record, I think Tucker Up is a cute blog name!
