I spy something newish...can anyone guess? It is glossy and shiny and it used to be brass...
Does this hint help?
You guessed it! I finally got around to updating our outside lighting. All I did was clean and spray paint our old lanterns and it gave the front of the house a whole new look!

And if you didn't notice, we also removed those gigantic round bushes that were on either side of the garage. I hated them! They always scratched the car as we would pull into the garage and they were just not pretty. We planted new flowers and mulched everything. We are planning on tackling the large flower bed, but we know that is going to be a huge project, so we are holding off for just a bit. I can't stand all those bushes. I need some color!
Now I need some input. I am going to paint our front door because it just looks dingy. I am thinking black, but does anyone else have any suggestions? Our HOA won't let us do anything crazy, so please keep your suggestions reasonable! And buying a new door isn't what I care to spend money on at the moment! Our door works fine...it's just ugly!
Happy Tuesday, friends!
I love what you have done with it! I think black would work great, or even a dark grey!

I think taking out the bushes was a great idea. Makes your house look bigger. Black might look good with the new lights! I plan to paint ours from white to black and add some black shutters!
ReplyDeleteI think a super shiny black would be beautiful! Especially with a great wreath on the door!
ReplyDeleteOmgsh the bushes taken out make a huge difference--love that! I would go with black or like a rusty red would look cute too :)

Oh, glossy black would be beautiful - it would stand out!!
ReplyDeleteLove the light update! And I think a black door would be perfect...it would blend very nicely with the new black lights :)
ReplyDeleteI say go with black or look at Charleston Green. It's basically black with a hint of green. It's the "black" that all the homes in Charleston use.
ReplyDeleteI think black or red would look great, we have a black door and I love it! Love the update too, those bushes really did need to go!
ReplyDeleteGood call on removing the bushes...looks much better and more inviting now. I think a black door would be the best option...it will really pop and won't show as much dirt! Looking mighty fine lady!! Are you coming my way soon???
ReplyDeleteI think the black would look good and make it pop, esp with the new lighting color. Take a pic when done :)
ReplyDeleteI would agree with black that it goes with your updated lights, or even a deep red! Can't wait to see how it turns out. And def a great choice ripping out those monster bushes!!
ReplyDeleteThe light fixtures look great, as does the removal of those bushes!!! It makes the front of your house look so much bigger and more modern! My front door is black, so I like it of course, but I want a red door at some point! :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks so great- really pops against the brick! I'd go with black to coordinate with the lights...or even a dark red. It would pull from the brick colors and they say it is symbolic for being welcoming!
ReplyDeleteDo black and distress it! I think that would really make the house pop with the new lights. I am loving the updates. :)
