Tuesday Tune Up: Double Trouble

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

No, I don't have an evil twin; just an evil job that caused me to not be able to have time to post my tune up last week.
Lucky for you (or maybe not?) I will be sharing with you double the outfits!
Keep in mind I have yet to repeat a top/shirt/blouse this year. Crazy, I know, since we are halfway through March! Now can y'all see why I needed to do this resolution so badly?!

As you can tell I love Banana Republic jeans and skinnies, I have awesome blog friends who send me their "left-overs" that they don't want, and Texas weather is whack since some days I can wear flats and be fine, while other days I am bundled up and wearing boots. Geeezzzz.

Happy Tuesday, friends!

Tuesday Tune Up: Love is in the air...

Monday, February 18, 2013

I wore this shirt on Valentines Day without planning it, seriously. I went on the "clothes not worn yet this year" side of my closet and wanted a long sleeved shirt. I saw this, realized I hadn't worn it in years, slipped it on, and went on with getting ready. As I was getting ready to leave I walked by a mirror in our living room and realized the shirt was perfect :)

Of course I got to work and everyone commented on how my shirt matched the holiday. They didn't buy my story. Oh well!

Here are some other outfits from the week!

My church outfit. Luckily The Village Church is super casual because I was not in a dress up mood.

I just adore this polka-dot blazer. It makes me so happy when I wear it.

This isn't my favorite outfit. The color of this shirt washes me out. I can't wait for summer when I can tan this glowing bod.

Remember when I told y'all that I was just too tired to photograph some of my outfits last week...well here is one outfit that I wore two weeks ago. I had a spurt of energy and decided to put it on and snap a quick pic. I loveee this shirt. It is probably one of my favorites.

And here is the other outfit I never had the energy to take a picture of...once again, I loveee this shirt.

I've said it twice, so I might as well say it again, I loveee this shirt too. Can you tell flowy is my style? Don't stick me in tight fitting shirts...I feel sooo claustrophobic. I need me some space up in herrrr.

How has your week of outfits been? I am still truckin' through my closet. I have yet to repeat a shirt this year...and I still have tons to go. My resolution is so awesome. If you aren't sure what I am talking about go {here}

PS: I think this is the fastest post I have ever written...working 10-14 hour days and doing homework leaves minimal time to blog, butttt it is my "escape" and it keeps me sane, so you can always - ehhhh most of the time - count on a post from me!

Happy Tuesday, friends!

Tuesday Tune Up: Birthday Suit

Monday, February 11, 2013

My birthday outfit.
Blouse: Francesca's// Skinnies: Banana Republic// Flats: Target
These days I am lucky if I even make it out the door dressed. My days and nights are running together and it is only week one of busy season. Yikes.

I wore such cute outfits last week and I forgot to take pictures of some them...and I never had the energy to slip them back on and snap a pic. Sorry. I promise they were cute. Maybe I'll include them next week :)

A couple of interesting things to note that have happened lately:

- My personal email got hacked. Thank you hacker for spreading your terrible-ness. I got a text from my brother saying, "An article about raspberry..." to which I replied, "Oh no! Don't open it!"...to which he responded, "Consider it opened." Ooops!

- Ummm, can we get a thank the Lord that Tierra is gone, finally. Oh my gosh, the fake tears were killing me. She wasn't even sad that Sean was letting her go. If you seriously think this guy is your husband, when he tells you to leave you are probably going to beg and plead and say, "I'm sorry, I am not really the crazy-psycho-emotional-basket-case that I have been acting like lately. I will be besties with the girls and do whatever you say." Instead she fake cried some more and blamed the girls for sabotaging her. Bye, bye crazy brow. See ya never!

- When I got home today my garage door was not all the way shut. Can we say creepy? This would happen the week that Chris is traveling. I went next door and got my adorable neighbor (she is totally preggo and I am so excited! baby next door, y'all!) and her and I...and a taser...went through the house checking under all the beds and behind the shower curtain like we were in a movie. Her husband wasn't home yet, but no need for a man. Girl Powa. We actually found out that their garage door opener opens my garage door...such a relief. Now, for figuring out how to reprogram that bad boy...

Now onto last week's outfits.

A dress was necessary for a day in the 70's.
Dress: Ross// Boots: Chinese Laundry at Nordy's
I loveeee this top. Flowy and so fun!
Blouse: Vintage Cottage Boutique// Jeans: Banana Republic// Boots: Steve Madden
Girls night out at the comedy show. Chris made sure I was wearing my wedding ring when I left the house ;) Of course I was, have you seen that family jewel?!!
Blazer: Vintage Cottage Boutique// Blouse: Francesca's (bday gift from the MIL!)// Jeans: Nordstrom// Wedges: BCBG at TJ Maxx
Comfy, cozy, black and grey.
Necklace: F21// Sweater: Nordstrom// Jeans: Banana Republic// Boots: Francesca's
I will try and slip back into my other outfits at some point. Until then, have a great Tuesday!

Did you watch Bachelor?! I read the spoilers so I can't say too much! Did you come home and your garage door was not fully closed?!

Tuesday Tune Up: thank you, SO SO much

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

I just want to start this Tuesday off with a THANK YOU!

I know I have said it before, but I'm going to say it again...thankyouthankyouthankyou!

After yesterday's post I got a flood of emails, the sweetest emails, from tons of you! Your words of encouragement and uplifting thoughts are so heartwarming, honestly. Hearing people say that I am inspiring them is such a blessing.

I went into this challenge for me. Already, within a month, I feel as though this challenge is changing me and YOU! God is cray-cray, isn't He?! Even if I only inspire one person to shop less, or be content with what they have, I have done my job. Some have told me I have inspired them spiritually as well. What an honor.

I want everyone to know that I read each and every comment and it truly puts a smile on my face. With graduate school in full swing, tax season upon me (I am a tax accountant for those wondering what my "day" job is...), and the stresses of life, reading sweet comments from y'all is such an awesome feeling.

I am truly humbled by this experience. I get emails from some of my blogging idols (shout out: Cassie and Shanna) saying how I am inspiring them to shop less, and be more content in what God has already blessed them with. Ah-mazing. Seriously. Little 'ol me talking about being a shopaholic and suddenly I am helping people grow in their relationship with God and open their eyes to more than materialistic items. Whoa-buddy.

I won't go on much more, but I cannot WAIT to see what this year has! It is only January and so much has sprouted from this resolution. I eeeekkkk with excitement thinking about it!

Okay, onto some biz-nass about clothes.

I kinda sucked at remembering to take pictures last week. Here is all I have, but most importantly...I still haven't repeated a shirt!

Ladies, it is amazing what you can find in your own closet. Organizing my closet was the key! I seriously forgot I had half the shirts I have. It is almost like getting new clothes...almost :)

This outfit made me happy. Maybe because this shirt is loose fitting so I could "let my gut hang," or maybe just because I was feelin' it that day. Whatever the reason, this will be a repeat outfit.
Bubble necklace: shoplately.com// Blouse: Vintage Cottage// Skinnies: Target// Flats: Target
Can't ever go wrong with the lumberjack look. Never-ever-ever-ever. I adore that I can dress like this at work. Sometimes, me and the guys I sit with have "flannel" day...and I happily fit in with this shirt :)
Top: F21// Jeans: Marshalls// Boots: Steve Madden
I have had this shirt for YEARS... and worn it twice. Whomp whomp. Not-no-mo, peeps! I felt slightly Army-ish, and the earth tones worked! Keep an eye out for a WIWW post about this little get-up.
Cardi: Nordstrom// Top: Target// Necklace: Park Lane// Jeans: Banana Republic// Boots: Chinese Laundry
Chris demanded Wrigley be in the picture...Wrigley is NOT supposed to be in our room, yet he always weasels his way in the door. Spoiled rotten.
AND I have to thank Maddie for this adorable jacket. More details about the HUGE box of clothes she sent me coming soon!
Long sleeve: Banana Republic// Checkered jacket: Maddie// Trouser jeans: Banana Republic// Flats: ALDO
Disclaimer: this dress is NOT flattering. Ugh. I bought it for $7 and that was literally the only reason I bought it. It washes me out and the belt hits me in a funny spot BUT this challenge is training me to be blessed to be clothed! Woo hoo!
Dress: Target// Cardi: Target// Boots: Chinese Laundry
I hope everyone has a fabulous Tuesday! I am knee deep in tax returns and homework, so I bet your day beats mine :)

Tuesday Tune Up: Back from Baahston

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

Hi everyone! I'm back from Baahston...ehhh Boston.

It is currently midnight, exactly, and I just submitted my discussion questions and quiz that were do due...at midnight tonight! I am so studious :)

Since I am already awake (and delirious)...and watching Teen Mom (don't judge) I figured I would write my post. I might be a zombie tomorrow at work, but watching Teen Mom writing a post for y'all is totally worth it!

It has been a longgg day of traveling. I didn't even make it home. Stopped at the in-laws to pick up the fubabies and never left. I need a day after vacation to recoup from vacation. That should be a law. Who agrees?!

Okay, since it is late, and I have misspelled every other word I have typed (true story), I am just leaving you with pictures of my outfits, no descriptions. Boo, I know. If you have questions on where something is from you can leave me a comment and I will be sure to answer! Also, I will try to come back and update this post at a later date when I am not drunk off Southwest Airlines peanuts and the lack of oxygen at 36,000 feet.

Off to bed for a quick nap before I have to wake up for work!

Happy Tuesday!

Tuesday Tune Up + Tip for Traveling to Boston!

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Ok, I will be the first to admit that my blog is getting boring. I mean...this one time, in Tucker Up land, Sarah wrote about a variety of things like house projects, recipes, life, plus fashion and a plethora of other topics. And now, well all that dang brunette writes about is her dogs and her New Year's resolution!! Geeezzz!

I know, I know. Mondays: Weekend Wrap
Tuesdays: Tuesday Tune Up
Wednesday: WIWW
Thursday: Your one variety post of the week
Friday: Insta Friday

Can I get a bor-ringgg?

Variety keeps people coming back, people interested, ME interested!

To be 100% honest, I have been extremely busy and keeping this blog routine is easy, stress-less.

I have this anxious feeling about the following happening all at once: the busy tax season approaching (February 1st to be exact), plus my last semester of graduate school, being a wife, this cute little bloggy-blog, and life in general. It is all almost overwhelming me.

I have been really great - suprisingly - lately at managing my time, which has helped ease the pain of the weight of bricks on my shoulders.

Let me just say that I promise to keep things fresh, new, around this little space of internet. I have a fantab (is that a word? yes that is a word, duh!) recipe, closet organization tips and reveal, outfits, and tons of family pictures just waiting to make their debut from my blog vault. The problem is time.

When I have time, I don't feel like uploading pictures, editing them, downloading them, and then writing about them. I would rather love on my furbabies, and pay attention to my husband. We won't be young and kid-less forever...so now is the time to soak it all in. I choose movie dates over blogging, and a game of fetch over writing about a game of fetch. Sorry.

My rule from now on is that blog comes second to all. Second to work (this should be a given), second to homework (even though blogging is way better than organizational development and project management), second to my furbabies, and most importantly, second to my husband. The man I love and adore and whom I need to pay attention to...because he is needy...he gets it from his dad, for real, no joke. And I love giving him attention because he truly is my best friend.

With all that said, I apologize for my repetitive posts, but I PROMISE that once busy season is over in April, and I am graduated with my master's in May (happy dance!), I will be sure to have more time on my hands to dedicate to this blog without having to sacrifice time with those who deserve my attention.

Now that that seriousness is behind us (Tuesday is way to early in the week to be that serious!) let's move onto another repetitive post, shall we?

Y'all, my NY resolution has been going amazing! God is good! I went to Target and had NO sense of urgency to go browse the clothes section. It was literally a miracle!

Here are my outfits from the last week!

Tuesday, January 15th
Scarf: Gift// Sweater: Limited// Trouser Jeans: Banana Republic// Flats: Market Days Booth

Wednesday, January 16th
Blouse: Loft// Cardigan: Target// Jacket: Target// Slacks: Banana Republic// Necklace: F21// Heels: Ross

Thursday, January 17th
Blouse: Loft// Jeans: Marshalls// Boots: Steve Madden at Dillard's

Friday, January 18th
Blouse: Target// Cardigan: Nordstrom// Jeans: Banana Republic// Flats: Target

Sunday, January 20th
Shirt: Pi Phi tee from my SIL// Boxers: Buc-ees stolen from my hubs// Slippers: I honestly have no idea...seriously...blame it on college...

Monday, January 21st
Shirt: Target// Cardigan: F21// Jeans: Marshalls// Boots: Steve Madden at Dillard's// Neckalce: Gift from Aunt
Another week down! Woo hoo! Once you see my closet you will see why I did this challenge :)

I hope each week I can bring y'all new outfits and y'all can help me mix and match the items I have! Input is highly encouraged!

Moving forward...

To add to my already cray-cray busy schedule, Chris and I are headed to Boston on Friday!! What for, you ask? Because we are young and in love and isn't that what newlyweds are supposed to do? Travel on a whim without a care in the world?!

Well that is what we are doing!

I have never been to Boston. Chris has, but we are equally excited! We can't wait to go back in the spring and catch the Rangers whoppin' the Red Sox boo-tay :)

So here is where YOU come in. We need tips and tricks and the ins and outs of Boston!

Even though Chris has been...he is a guy...which equates to "along for the ride."

Maddie has been amaze-balls (as Giuliana Ransic would say) with emailing me tips about the city! Thanks Maddie!! You're the best!

If anyone else has anything thing to add, here is what we like to do:

Ummm we love food, and fun, and food, and ummm did I mention food?!

Leave me a comment telling me what we MUST see on our four-day-getaway!

Have a great Tuesday!!

Linking Up with Helene!

Love you all!!
