Playing hooky today and throwing up some outfits from this month because, well, I'd rather do that than make you feast your eyes upon what I am currently wearing.

You can call this my April fashion recap post, but I hate using the word fashion because I really just wear cheap, comfortable clothes. I guess that is fashion, but fashion sounds so high-end which is not Sarah Tucker.

Randoms:

- These pants need to be in your closet.

- Thanks for all the love on my post yesterday. Ya'll rock!

- I let the dogs sleep with me last night since Chris is out of town. That is a big no-no, but after consulting Chris and him saying, "absolutely not," I covered up the comforter and let the pups snuggle with me. I obviously listen really well.

-  Does anyone else watch Newlyweds: The First Year? If not, you should. I'm addicted, and as I have proven before, my taste in shows ranks right up there with the trashiest, so run to the closest tv and watch, watch, watch. And, if I am being honest, this is probably least crazy of all the shows I watch, so...convincing?

- Who gets dizzy when looking at all the bazillion new emojis on their phone? (insert brown-heaired girl raising her hand here!)

Now for the link up!

- All I ask is you link back to my blog and link to a specific post.

Trying to stay positive

Tuesday, April 28, 2015

This time of year all teachers are at our whits end. The days are long and the kids basically consider themselves done with their current grade, especially fifth graders. You might as well have handed them the keys to a car and kissed them away to college.

Throughout the day I find myself being a little too impatient and I have to remind myself, "they are just kids..." It is tough. I'd be lying if I said there haven't been days where I have personally apologized to a student because I felt like I was too hard on them.

All I want them to do is love me as a teacher and love their last year in elementary. Everyday I am trying to make the choice to be positive. My principal reminded us to not count the days until summer but, instead, count the days left to change these kids lives.

Yes, I've been counting down the days until summer. What teacher hasn't. Yesterday was rough and it made me want these next couple weeks to fly by, but I am trying to make the most of the short time I have left with my cherubs.

I was driving Chris's (new) truck yesterday and I didn't pull it far enough in the garage and when I let the garage door down it put a gash in the bumper. I almost started to cry then I thought, it is just a truck. No one died, no one got hurt, and we are blessed to even have a truck, but I felt terrible. I called Chris and he just started laughing and saying, "Honey, this just proves why we can't get you a new car quite yet." Hardy-har-har to the guy who backed into a tree at my parent's house a couple months after owning said truck. And should I even mention the truck has sensors and a backup camera?

Anyways, I guess what I am trying to say is that I am challenging myself to think positively in all aspects of life. Don't want to go to the gym? Be thankful you are healthy enough to workout. Tired of your job? Be thankful you have one. Scratch you husband's new truck? Trade it in a buy yourself a car while he is out of town :) Just kidding...sort of!

Happy Tuesday!

Weekend Wrap || Perfect Floral Pants

Monday, April 27, 2015

How is Monday already? This weekend was full and great, but I could use one more day. Chris and I always joke that we are going to move to a country where the hours worked per week are like 25. America should adopt that lifestyle.

Friday night we hung out with some friends for a birthday party. We played darts and went out for Mexican food. By 10:30pm I made us leave because I could barley keep my eyes open. The struggle is real.

Saturday we had big plans to be out and about running errands. Instead we stayed around the house and relaxed, did chores, and I doodled on our chalkboard. (Inspiration here)

Saturday night we had friends over for game night. We played cards and snacked on chips and dip. We have really started to try and be "young" while we have no kids. To us, being young includes hanging out with friends, saying 'yes' more when asked to go places, and not complaining when we stay out later than 9:00pm. It is safe to assume we are still struggling with the last one.

Sunday morning was beautiful. We woke up and had coffee outside before starting our day.

Sunday afternoon I headed to Target for flowers and groceries. I walked away with these pants. I could not pass them up! They are so comfy and will be perfect to dress up on our cruise and when we go to Mexico later this year. I'm already imagining how many ways I can style them!

And lastly, did you see my rare Saturday post? I am on the hunt for the perfect swimsuit and I've finally narrowed it down!

Happy Monday!

Shop || Saturday Swimwear

Saturday, April 25, 2015

I can't even crank out a post everyday of the week, but leave it up to Mrs. Inconsistent to produce a Saturday post. Mainly I blame Chris for sleeping in like a college kid. He turns 28 and reverts back to his 18 year old sleeping habits. At this point during the work week I've heard my name called 4,302 times (Mrs. T! Misssssessss TTTTTT, Mrs. Tuckerrr!, Mom!) and said, "please quiet down" approximately every minute.

So, naturally, I can't sleep in. I start hearing ten year cherubs call my name in my sleep and then I have two fur children who think the floor is on fire because they can't stand still for three. freaking. seconds. once they hear my first peep of waking.

T-minus six weeks until we will be setting sail to Key West and the Bahamas! In honor of not feeling like going to the gym, we are going swimsuit shopping today!

Above are some suits I've been eyeing.

Flamingo: I'm all about the one piece this year, which is weird since I've been working out so hard. I just think I am liking the thought of being active on our cruise without having to worry if something is going to fall out. Plus, how can you go wrong with Kate or flamingos?

Floral Hi-neck: After buying this top, I've been loving the hi-neck style. Plus, this suit comes in a one piece and I think I might like that version more. Deep V, anyone?

Aztec: This would be my lounging suit. It does come down a little lower than most bikini tops which could make my short torso look even shorter than it already is, so I'll have to try it on and see how it works. Being barely 5'3", sometimes the pictures do not accurately portray how the suit will look on someone built like me! #shortandstalkyforthewin

Hi-neck Crochet: Back to the hi-neck I go. I love black swimsuits. Almost too much. But, I love that this top could be mixed and matched with a fun bottom.

Stripes: Throwback? Seriously one of my favorites. It comes in light pink, too, and I can just picture myself with a fruity drink, big hat and sunnies, lounging like a beached whale. Ahhhh, come on vacation!

Sporty Blue: This suit is totally me. Sporty, reversible (two-for-one, duh), basic. I am 99% sure this suit will be coming home with me after I try it on. I feel like everything would stay in it's place while I ride jet-skies, throw the football, tackle Chris on a water trampoline, ride down the slides at Atlantis, etc. Plus, the back is my favorite.

Which one is your favorite? Happy Saturday!

Random Friday || Steals and Deals

shoes // here
I wasn't sure what to title this post because all I have are random thoughts and sweet deals, so I combined them.

I am currently running on fumes from state testing this week. Want to know what is worse than monitoring a test for four hours then keeping twenty fifth graders quiet for three days? Nothing. There is nothing worse. Walking on nails? Bring it. Rotten eggs? Ain't got nothin'. But, even though we all hated it, and I silent-yelled more than I'd like to admit, my kids did relatively well and we all survived.

In other, more uppity, news:

- This favorite top of mine is on sale for $9. I think I'm going to add the other colors to my collection because original. (This other top I snagged last week is now only $11, you're welcome.)

- Pastels are in, so call me trendy. I've been rockin' this polish for many, many days.

- I'm on the hunt for the perfect one piece. Any suggestions? I've been eyeing this one, but haven't felt like going to the mall to try it on. #statetesting (I also am torn between this one and this one!)

- Old Navy is having a 40% off all active wear sale. I just scooped up a couple sports bras and tanks. I think it is officially time to retire my grungy tees. Can you say holey?

WIWW: Jetset + Link Up

tee ($9!!) // jeans // purse/diaper bag // shoes

My name is Sarah and I'm super original. I've worn these pants almost every weekend for the last month. I've also worn them for two out of my last three wiww posts. Even if I wore a skirt or something that showed my legs you wouldn't be able to tell I wasn't wearing these white jeans because that is how pale my legs are. #blinding

I'm normally not one for a tee with words on it, but this one was $10 (and now it is $9 here!) and so comfy. And besides, who doesn't like to jetset? Or at least pretend they are. You can bet I will be wearing this to the airport for our trip in a couple weeks!

Also, can we just gush about Wrigley for a second? He is such a momma's boy.

Oh, and thanks for all the love on instagram (@sarahtuckerup) on getting my picture featured on Old Navy's instagram! So cool!

House Tour || Living Room {Progress}

Tuesday, April 21, 2015

Slowly, but surely this little house of ours is coming along. We just hit the one year mark in this house and I feel like we have made some great progress. In our first house I felt like we made progress, but then I regretted a decor decision I made. We are taking our time with this house to ensure we make it exactly how we want...at least until I change my mind:)

So far we have:
- Updated the floors
- Painted the red wall to match the other walls
- Hung curtains
- Bought a rug
- Bought a couch
- Bought new throw pillows

To-do list:
- Probably get new curtains. I want something lighter and more airy.
- New coffee table
- Buy/DIY a huge clock for over the mantel
- Buy a media cabinet (something like this). We like the entertainment center we have, but when we have kids they will be messing with everything we have on the shelves, etc. Plus, we want a bigger TV and we can't fit one in the space provided.

Source list:
Couch - Ashley Furniture
Rug - Home Depot
Entertainment Center - Ikea
White Frames - Ikea
Console Table - Ashley Furniture
Art on Mantel - Minted
Glass Vase and Flowers - World Market
Candlesticks - Flea Market
Clock - Gift
Mirror above TV - Homegoods
Throw Pillows - Homegoods

This is a picture to remind you how the house looked when we were looking to buy it:

DIY || Vintage Ironing Board

Monday, April 20, 2015

Hello! I haven't posted since last Wednesday because school has been so crazy lately. I've been getting home around 7:00pm and by the time I shower and eat, the last thing I want to do is blog. But, I finally took the time to sit down and spill the beans about some of my favorite DIY projects lately and what we were up to this weekend.

Friday night we had an impromptu game night with our friends. They ordered pizza and we stayed up until 11:00pm (rebels!) playing cards. It is such a blessing to be developing friendships with other couples that we know are going to be lifelong friends!

Saturday I slept in (because I stayed up way too late...being a rebel, ha!) and then it was DIY projects and yard work all day. I cleaned and did laundry and then worked on some things in the garage. We had a date night to McAllister's and didn't even bother to change out of our work clothes.

Sunday we went to church then continued with the housework and projects.

One project I am so excited to share with y'all is this vintage ironing board. I've been wanting one for so long and found the perfect one over Easter weekend when I was visiting my family in the hill country. And the best part...it was only $15.

I wanted it to look a little more distressed, so we scuffed it up with the sander.

A family friend gave us this 'Home Sweet Home' sign back in February. It was red, but I wanted it to be more neutral, so I painted it a light grey and then scuffed it up with sandpaper.

There was never any intention to put the sign and the ironing board together, but I think it turned out better than Chris or I were expecting! We absolutely love it!

While down at my parent's I also got this wooden piece that Chris attached a glass vase and some flowers to. He wanted to hang "man stuff" on it (fishing lures), but I told him I would just get him one when we went back to the flea market. Boys.

We are slowly turning this house into a home. Chris is becoming more receptive to my shabby-chic decor and each time we DIY something he ends up loving it and wanting more vintage pieces.

Next up on the project list: decorating the 2nd guest bedroom! We got paint samples and I'm not sold on any of the colors, so this project may take awhile.

Happy Monday!

WIWW: Hi-Neck + Link Up

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

Last week I had some credit card points burning a hole in my account and I decided to head to Old Navy. I've been eyeing these sandals for a couple weeks and they were selling out everywhere, so I wanted to get them while they lasted! (They are still available online here!)

While making my rounds through Old Navy (does anyone else make several rounds before deciding you're done shopping and ready to try on?) I saw this high-neck striped top for $10. Yes, $10.

Right when I got home I scurried in the house and told Chris I might have bought a couple things while I was out and about, but they didn't cost me anything because of our points. When I came out in this top he said, "Wow, babe! Cautie, patootie!" I'll take it that he forgot that I just walked in with a bag of clothes :)

My other purchases included: this top, this tank, this vest, this bra, this bra, and a couple of these workout tanks.

I think I am all stocked up on tops for the spring and into summer. I now need it to stop raining, so I can put my new cute tops to good use!

Life Lately

Tuesday, April 14, 2015

Yesterday was Chris's 28th birthday! We had friends over Sunday night and celebrated with cake and pizza. He got a new weed-eater this weekend and I put him to work in the yard. I'm so happy he was born!

This time of year in the teaching world is nuts. State testing is upon us and everyone is feeling the stress. On top of that, one of my beloved co-teachers is leaving next year (so sad!) and so I have been having to stay late for interviews. I am go-go-go from 7:30-2:45 (with a 15 minute break for lunch) then start interviews at 3:00. Exhausted would be the word I would use to describe how I feel.

But, no complaining because many vacations are ahead and I feel like this:

Heck yes.

The teacher in me came out last week when I was pulling weeds. I pulled this one up and the whole seed came up with it. My kids were in awe. It was a great visual for them!

I got this wood piece at Wimberley Market Days Easter weekend. The saying just captured me.

This week are are doing four science rotations each day in order to prepare for our science STAAR test. Yesterday the kids got to make their own lemonade as we learned about solutions! They LOVED it. At the end of each class's rotation, I tasted three recipes and picked my favorite. It was one of my favorite activities to date.

Happy Tuesday!
