That one time we didn't get to close on our house...

And I should have known this situation was almost too good to be true. Probably by the time you read this, we should be signing papers selling our current house, and then moments later signing papers for the purchase of our new home.

But, when is life that easy?

Another longlonglong house story short.

The buyers who are buying our house have failed to turn in any paperwork to their lender. They never even scheduled an appraisal!! Basically they have done nothing they were supposed to.
(Insert a picture of me FUMING)

So where does that leave us?

Waiting.

Without spilling really boring details and causing you to click off my page faster than you (might) already have...we are hoping/praying/crossing every bone in our body that they get their papers in asap.

The other issue is that the people who we are buying our house from are going on a week long vacation next week and return home Friday. So, the soonest we cold close on our new house is Friday.

SO, basically what I am saying is that we are praying to move March 10th, but I am not holding my breath.
Not to mention that I spent 5+ hours on the phone on President's Day calling our cable, utility, internet, phone, etc. companies transferring services and now I have to call them ALL back and tell them to NOT cut our power, water, internet, etc. off. And, since we have no new official closing date, I will have to call them ALL back and give them an official day on when to transfer/disconnect it all. Eyyy-yiii-yiiii! Our cable was scheduled to be cut off today, so I won't be watching TV for a week...and I actually think it might be a nice break. Check my sanity in a week though...

Merry Thursday, friends.

  1. Utility changeover day was the WORST when we moved the last two times. Derek and I even thought it would be a good idea to create some sort of company that does it for you!

  3. Oh my what an experience. I hope it all goes as smoothly as it should in the end. This is one of the reasons why I told Keith we can't buy a house until we figure out what we'll do with our condo (I hope rent) because I don't want two mortgages and anything else that might happen.

  9. That is seriously the most annoying thing ever! why can't people just do what they said they would do, and then take a vacation! And the utility people are annoying enough as it is, then to have to talk to them more then you need, ugh!

  10. GAHHH! I seriously flipped a lid when I read the title of this post. I can't believe these people were so unprepared. Y'all dont deserve that especially when you've done everything you were supposed to. Will be praying and keeping fingers crossed that you can close very soon!! We are less than 2 weeks from closing on our first home so I hope nothing like that goes down!

  14. I know the frustrations you are going through. We are in the process of moving and are in a tricky space because we rent and we have to give our landlord 30 days notice but I am just worried about finding a new place in that time. Or at least finding a new place that suits our needs and desires.
