On Being Comfortable

Naya Sandals here // LOFT Sorts here // Target Top similar
Anyone who has been around this blog for a day knows that my number one priority with fashion is being comfortable. I hate nothing more than feeling uncomfortable in my clothes.

If you were to see me on a random day there is a good chance this is close to what I would be wearing. A loose, flowy shirt, shorts, and some comfy sandals. Actually I lied. I would most likely be in Nike running shorts and a t-shirt, but let's pretend I actually got dressed this day you saw me :)

But, to me, comfort is more than how you feel in your clothes. It is truly how you feel on the inside. I have been getting a lot of comments and emails lately saying how I make my outfits look so easy.

Here is how I respond. Knowing what you're comfortable in, and knowing your body type, is the key to looking comfortable. If you don't feel comfortable in your clothes, you will look uncomfortable in your picture. Most of my shirts are flowy and 99% of my clothes are not tight. Tight clothes make me uncomfortable, so I don't wear them.

I have been the girl who squeezes into jeans, or forced my foot in a shoe. It wasn't until the last couple years that I developed a rule: if at any point during the day I feel uncomfortable in my clothes, or they are hurting me, they go into the donate pile when I get home. If they weren't comfortable that time, they won't be comfortable the next time I wear it either.

To me, life is too short to feel uncomfortable. Accept your body for the size it is. God made you beautifully and a size on a tag shouldn't determine what you stuff your body into. The only person who is miserable when you make the decision to buy something that isn't 'you' is you.

Find what makes you feel beautiful and rock it. When you feel beautiful, you look beautiful.

  1. Love this top! I'm all about comfort too...I can't stand starchy fabrics and I have been known to buy shirts just for their soft fabric. haha! I love the way heels make my legs look but when you are chasing around a little one they aren't really ideal. lol

  4. Stopping by from the link-up. This is a great post and I LOVE your rule! I think women in general are so critical of ourselves and should do just what you said and accept our body for what it is.

  5. You look adorable in your comfy clothes! My shoe ways have totally changed the older I get--sky high heels and to tight shoes I bought because of a sale have gone out the window--its all about comfort now :)

  10. Completely agree girlie. It's taking me time to get use to dressing up in what works for me, and being confident in my skin no matter what size I am, but as I'm getting older I'm realizing, slowly.... who cares?! :) You look great and comfy in this outfit, but those glasses totally make it all come together.
