When you get married, you inherit a lot of junk stuff. One item Chris and I didn't inherit, but willingly took was this golden beauty of a lamp from his parents. Isn't she perr-tayyy?
You don't have to lie. U-G-L-Y, you ain't got no alibi, you ugly, yaaa lamp, you ugly!
But, this little gem of the world has a sorta-kinda special meaning. It was the first piece of "furniture" Chris's parents bought when they were married. "Awww, how sweet." Right? Wrong!
They had this thing outside at their garage sale a few months back and, not surprisingly, no one wanted it.
I had other plans and when they told me it had (slight) sentimental value, I was sold. Chris thought I was crazy, but as I have said before, I am the decorating boss up in this hiz-house.
After a few coats of paint, here she glows!
Seashell ball (is that what you call it?) and Starfish are thanks to good ol Gulf Shores, Alabama! I have been wanting one of those shell-balls so bad, but they are like $25 at Target. No thanks. But in Bama, $8.99 and I was sold. And the Starfish? Rang in at a cool $3.99. Ikea plant comes in at a whopping $1.99, and the fact that I haven't killed it yet makes it priceless!!
The lamp shade is from another lamp I had in a closet. I am not sold, but anything was better than the old lamp shade...which I tried to spray paint and it turned out, well, U-G-L-Y.
Pinterest is full of inspiration, but
this golden beaut made me realize this lamp could really come out of retirement!
Linking up with Steph and Katie!

ReplyDeletewow, that looks great! Makes me feel like I'm in a vacation home at the beach!
ReplyDeleteThat turned out amazing! Did you spray paint it, or actually use a paint brush and paint? Everytime I spray paint metal, it doesn't look right, just wondering if I'm doing something wrong? lol
