10 Silly Quirks

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

In this instance, I'm talking about my fur-babies, Wrigley and Bailey.

All kids, adults, and animals have quirks, so I thought I'd share a few of Wrigley and Bailey's weird quirks.

1. Wrigley growls when Chris and I kiss/hug or get close. It is not an aggressive growl at all. It is more like an, "Ewww. Could y'all not do that in front of me?" But, seriously, every time we are sitting next to one another on the couch and we get too close, Wrigley growls.

2. Bailey is the slowest eater in the world. She chews one piece of dog food at a time. With her treats, she grabs it in her mouth in the most dainty way, brings it to another room, and slowly eats it. Wrigley grabs the treat out of my hand before I even get it out of the bag.

3. Bailey loves dirty wash-cloths. When I am sorting the dirty laundry, she will always run away with a used wash-cloth. So weird.

4. Wrigley prefers to sleep on his back, spread eagle.

5. We call Bailey a sorority dog because when you go to pet her, she lays down and opens her legs. (Totally inappropriate and I hope no one takes offence to this! One of my friends in a sorority actually told us about this saying haha! I love and have the utmost respect for sorority girls (my SIL and best friends being some of them)...it's just funny in this case.) She just hates having her head rubbed, unlike Wrilgey.

6. Bailey is super sneaky. The dogs are not allowed on our bed and when we lived at our other house, I would leave for work before Chris. One morning that we didn't have school, Chris kissed me bye and left and right when I heard the garage door close I felt something slowly creeping onto the bed. I shot up and it was Bailey who thought that I had already left for work! She was just going to make herself right at home on our bed thinking that we had forgot to shut our bedroom door!

7. Wrigley prefers to be outside. Rain, hail, sleet, snow...he does not want to be inside. Bailey is the complete opposite.

8. When the alarm goes off, Wrigley is up just like a toddler. He is full of energy and ready to go. Bailey, on the other hand, is like the moody teen in the house and usually gives us the death stare before we force her outside to go potty.

9. Wrigley always has to be under things. He lays under the coffee table. He lays under the kitchen table. He used to lay under our bed, when he fit, hah! He lays under the reclined part of the couch. When we are outside, he lays under the car. We aren't sure why he does this, but we always know where to find him!

10. Bailey only wants a bone/toy when Wrigley wants it. She doesn't like chewing on fresh bones, but she always steals Wrigley's when he has already gnawed on it. We are trying to find bones for her that she will actually eat, and ones that will help her teeth and breath. These Blue Buffalo Blue Bones from Chewy.com have been a huge hit. Bailey actually eats all of hers and Wrigley eats anything, so he doesn't really count in this. As far as toys go, Bailey, once again, only wants a toy if Wrigley has it. Thank goodness they both love this Kong bone that has a squeaker that shuts off! Every dog parent's dream! I hate when Wrigley plays with his toy in the middle of the night and I can hear it squeak! This bone has been great and super durable. Wrigley usually destroys toys within a day or so. This one is two weeks old and still in perfect condition!

What are some of your dog's quirks?

We love you, you goofy pups!

The end of a break.

Monday, March 16, 2015

Today I'm back at school after a week off thanks to glorious Spring Break. Some people say that teachers have it so easy because of all the breaks we get, but if we didn't get breaks, well I don't want to think about what would happen.

I did a whole lot of nothing last week. I watched lots of tv, sat on my butt for way too many hours, snacked until we ran out of snacks, and generally just wasted the days away without a care in the world.
I got a bunch of new makeup last week and decided to actually try it all out on Friday. I'm trying to be a liquid eyeliner wearer and I think I'm getting better at it. I am still so in love with the Naked 2 palette eye shadows that I got for Christmas. Also, I am on the bandwagon of thinking this eye shadow primer is the best invention on earth. Seriously, for a girl who runs out the door with a messy bun and some mascara, it takes a lot for me to love a beauty product...and I love this stuff. I had a chance to wear my Make Up For Ever foundation and I really like it. It is more coverage than I'm used to, but I only plan on wearing it for special occasions. Last, but not least, this concealer is working wonders on my under-eye bags.

Friday night we went to our friend's house for pizza and games. This whole 'pizza and game night' is a once a month thing that us and two other couples just started and if they turn out to be as much fun as Friday night, we are in for a lifelong treat.

We dined on gourmet Papa John's pizza, fancy bagged salad, and a to die for easy cobbler. We want these fun nights to not be stressful, so we decided we would just keep it easy with pizza.

We played The Game of Things. Chris and I had never played before and I HIGHLY recommend it if you're a game lover. Basically you draw a card that says things like, "Something that should never be written on" and everyone writes their answer and the person who drew the card has to guess who wrote what. You can only imagine how out-there the answers got. Add in some wine and we laughed until we cried. It was wonderful.

Saturday we slept in and I had the most productive day I've had all week. Everything I wanted to do that had been on my to-do list got done. I think having Chris there to get me up and motivated helped.

I cleaned out and organized our kitchen cabinets. When we moved in last year we just kind of put stuff in a place and have been living with it like that. I finally put things away where I had been wanting them to go and got rid of things we've never even used before.

I went to the gym and did some cardio (boo!) and then downed a giant sandwich from Jersey Mike's that was delicious. We never think to go there, but I think that's going to change.

Saturday night we went to Chris's cousin's wedding where Chris's sister and I tore up the dance floor. It was a pretty small wedding and about 70% of the time it was just her and I out there doing our thing. We may have had some liquid courage, but we would have been out there regardless. It was a blast! I can't wait for her wedding in August!

Sunday I woke up and, well, let's just say I felt rough. Maybe the open bar got to me a little more than I was anticipating and Chris agreed to take me to Cracker Barrel. We hardly ever drink (and we did two nights in a row!), so it doesn't take much to make me feel it! Obviously Whole 30 was put on hold this weekend :)

The rest of the day we laid around and did nothing. I tried to nap, but kept thinking of everything else I should be doing, so I got up and sat on the couch and watched more tv.

Now we are in testing mode at school and I can only begin to imagine the stress that will cover me in the coming weeks. I know the year flies by after Spring Break. In a way I am happy for summer to get here, but I am also sad as to how fast life is passing me by!

Happy Monday!

My most favorite "Friday Favorites"

Friday, March 13, 2015

1. I walked in to West & Lou yesterday (the boutique owned by the lovely Kendi) and walked out with this perfect dress. It has a racerback and that line down the middle is super flattering. I got a medium for size reference. Oh, and don't mind my beautiful friend Caitlin up there, just modeling away for West & Lou. She is a as beautiful on the inside as she is on the out! Blessed by our friendship!

2. I just ordered this print from Minted. I have big plans for it! We have this long empty wall leading into the living room that I plan on doing some sort of art gallery wall on. In our last house we had a picture gallery wall, but in this house I want to hang art instead of a collage of Chris and I :)

3. Later this year we are going to the Bahamas, Key West, and Mexico, so I've been eyeing everything on the Forever 21 website. They have such fun and cheap beachy-type clothes that I won't feel bad getting dirty, sweaty, or even accidentally losing while on a vacation.

4. I am seriously contemplating painting our kitchen cabinets a light grey. That is what we wanted from the beginning, but opted to stain them instead. We decided we will get new counter tops and see if that does the trick and have an island built and paint it white or grey to keep things on the lighter side. All of this will take place over the summer, but I can't help and dream about it happening sooner!

5. Wednesday I had a spa day. Chris got me a giftcard to a local spa here and I got a massage, facial, manicure, and pedicure. Everything was wonderful, but I did have a slight panic attack during the facial. I've talked about how I am super claustrophobic and the lady put this steamer right over my face then covered my face (except my nose) with a hot cloth and I just about lost it. After some adjustments I was able to enjoy the rest of the facial. What I really love is the color I got on my nails. I wanted something neutral and I picked out OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around. The nail lady sadi that she was skeptical when I picked it out, but that it was now her new favorite color. It is really perfect. I got my go-go OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender on my toes.
