Dear Kitchen Cabinets...

Monday, September 15, 2014

...why must there be so many of you.

I finally started the time consuming project of redoing our kitchen cabinets. I worked tirelessly all weekend (literally...all weekend) and came THIS close to finishing. The Texas humidity was not on my side, so the drying process was definitely like the saying, "watching paint dry."

At the moment our kitchen looks only a smidge better than this picture, so once it is all put back together, I will give you a little sneak sneak. Oh, and I should mention that I only did the upper cabinets (insert crying emoticon here).

I did manage to sneak away to the McKinney Square and spend some time with my family. My aunt and uncle are in town visiting my cousin, so while everything was drying, I was able to grab a bite to eat and window shop.

In other news, thanks to everyone who linked up with Caitlin and I for our first The Lovely Lookbook link up! Last month's topic was dresses and I am happy to announce that October's link up topic is:

1. I am serious about...

...food. Chris and I enjoy eating. We love eating really good, mostly unhealthy, food. When we go on trips, the first thing we do is plan where we are going to eat. We are really, really serious about what is touching our taste buds.

2. I am most relaxed when...

...I am on the couch, wrapped in a blanket, in my pajamas, with Chris close, but not touching me. I am relaxed when he is touching me, but I'm not the most relaxed. I usually get too hot, or we may be laying in an uncomfortable position, so don't think I don't love my husband...I'm just most relaxed when I get my own blanket and my own space :) Hint: See the above picture...I'm the family pillow.

3. There's no place like...

...home...that's what I'm supposed to say, right? Yes, everyone loves home, but I'd have to say there is no place like Kauai. I remember hiking the Napali coastline and thinking how great this world is that God made. It was breathtaking.

WIWW: Green and Navy + Link Up

Boyfriend khakis and a loose fitting top are my jam. Add in that the khakis are sage green and the top has polka dots on it and you might as well call me the happiest camper around. Should I mention my espadrille wedges and the fact that they were $12?

Chris bought me this purse four years ago and I still love it. I should rephrase that. Chris and I went to the mall and I showed him this exact purse. He bought it right then, went home and wrapped it, put it under the tree, and on Christmas morning I opened up a gift and it happened to be the exact purse I wanted. Funny how that works out.

Fun fact: I tell Chris exactly what I want for any holiday/birthday and he buys exactly what I tell him.  He loves it! Saves both of us time and money and I like it that way. He usually buys something else I don't know about which is a nice surprise.

Randoms:

- I think I am going to tackle our kitchen cabinets this weekend. I am sick of just wishing I would get it done, so I have worked it up in my head that this weekend the cabinets will no longer be 90's oak.

- Thanks for all the comments about our DIY project yesterday!

- I have seen several of my students from last year and it makes me a wee bit sad they are no longer in my class. I knew I should have failed them ;)

- My little brother is making all of his broadcasting dreams come true and I couldn't be more proud. He broadcasts highschool football every Friday night on the radio. Then on Saturday, he works for the Texas State Athletic Department where he gets to interview the football players and coaches each week. His assignment during the week is to write three articles: one on the previous Saturday's game and two player spotlights. He also covers all the other sports other than football. All this on top of him making the Dean's List and just being an all around great person. I admire that kid so stinkin' much!

Now for the link up!

- All I ask is you link back to my blog and link to a specific post.

- Write about something fashion related :)

Don't forget about The Lovely Lookbook link up! The link up for dresses is still going until the 15th and we will announce October's topic on the 15th as well.
