What I Wore Wednesday - Taupe Skirt and Statement Necklace

Awkward neck photo...
Francesca's has my heart. If you are female and have never been, you must go. I was on the hunt for a fun necklace and came across this coral and turquoise one. I'll admit, I was a bit hesitant. I am usually a no necklace type girl (I have weird claustrophobia issues...), but statement necklaces are the hot item right now, so I figured I'd give it a go! I was more comfortable wearing this necklace because it was not so close to my neck (yes, I am seriously a claustrophobia weirdo), but I fought the phobia and ended up loving this necklace just as much...although I did take it off the minute I got in my car after work! Can you say suffocation?!?! Weird, I know.

Here is the whole outfit:

Not my favorite picture, but it'll do.
  • Necklace: $28 from Francesca's
  • White Shirt: $3.99 from TJ Maxx
  • Taupe Skirt: $9.99 TJ Maxx
  • White Flats: $5 from 8th Street Boutique in Tyler
  • TOTAL: $46.98
The taupe skirt is one that has a short skirt underneath, then has a gauze over it....so it looks long, but is short underneath...confusing, I know. But it was under ten bucks, so what's not to love!

Twins?! - The Men in My Life

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

Jason, Uncle Randy, Dad, and my brother, Sam
These four guys are the ones who have been there for me no matter what. From teaching me how to play softball, picking on me, dunking me countless times in the pool, cracking real eggs on my head...you name it, they have experienced it with me. Chris had some tough critics, which he obviously impressed!

Jason, on the left, is like my big brother. His Dad, Randy, and my Dad grew up together in Austin. Apparently they couldn't live without one another because when we moved from California to Texas (in 1994), we moved in right next door to my Uncle Randy and Aunt Darless. Sam was a month old and I was almost five.

Now, don't Uncle Randy and my Dad look like twins?! Bald, skinny (haha!), same facial hair, and glasses. Can you believe they are not even blood related?!?! Scary, right!? Everywhere, and I mean everywhere we go, these two are assumed to be twins. I guess being best friends for over 50 years can cause you to look alike!

These four men, plus Chris, mean the world to me. Although Jason and Uncle Randy (along with the rest of their family) are not my blood relatives, they are my family. And by the looks of my Dad and Uncle Randy, I am not fully convinced we aren't blood related!

Sam is the best little brother a girl could ask for. He is so intelligent, polite, well spoken, and would defend me to the death. It is weird that he now protects me, when all our lives I have protected him. You're the best, little bro.

All I can say is that I am truly blessed to have these four men, and now Chris, in my life forever. I wasn't only blessed with the World's Greatest Dad and Brother, but an entire other family that loves me just as if I were their own.

Aunt D and Uncle R got everyone snuggies for Christmas!

I Gave My Husband a Haircut

His hair looks just like this after I cut it!
Last week Chris was in dire need of a haircut. I had been telling him I could do it for as long as I have known him, but he never let me. That was until now! Dun-dun-dunnnnn.
We set him up and he gave me the clippers. I turned them on and they sucked were very weak in the power department. They wouldn't even cut through his hair, so onto plan 'b'. He gave me his beard trimmers. Right then I just swiped them up his head...then I started dying laughing. Chris handed them to me on the shortest setting and I didn't change it. Oops!

Once we got over the shock of him having one stripe of extremely short hair, I told him it was no big deal and I could blend it in and no one would ever be able to tell.

Everything went along smoothly (Chris kept reminding me that we could always buzz it if it looked "that bad") until his battery operated beard trimmers died and we had to leave to go to the movies. Thank goodness for hats! Let's just say "business in the back, party in the front!"

After it was all said and done Chris realized that I actually can cut his hair. Now we can save that twenty bucks a month!

Business in the back, party in the front.
Right when the trimmers died.
