Throwback Thursday

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

I mentioned yesterday how I have been going through my closet to get rid of clothes from high school and the early years of college. I am slightly embarrassed to say that these pictures were taken from 2007-2009 and I still have almost every article of clothing photographed (not counting the ski apparel).

Get it together, Sarah. It is time to let go of all your unsentimental items and make room for some new clothes in 2014!

And in honor of Throwback Thursday, and my lack of creativity for a new post, here is a random gathering of pictures from my past.

I know, I haven't changed much...

WIWW: Put Together + Link Up

Tuesday, September 17, 2013

This is what I always thought I would dress like as a teacher. All cutsie and put together. Who was I kidding? I am lucky if I get my hair brushed and mascara put on.

I may not be chasing around kindergartners, but fifth graders aren't any less active. I am constantly circling my classroom, kneeling down helping students, walking the halls, pacing the lunch room. I don't stop walking all day, and these wedges, although my favorite, are not the best for walking.

Random Wednesday Thoughts:

- I am so ready to wear boots. We are still pushing three-digit temperatures here in Tejas. I won't shed when summer decides to get on outta here!

- I got the most adorable dress from eShakti sent to me and I can't wait to show you how I styled it!

- My resolution has changed me in more ways than I could have ever imagined. I am learning more about my style and what pieces I will add to my closet when I am able to shop again. I have also learned what pieces are no longer 'me'. Cough, cough...items from high school and the early years of college.

- If you're wondering how my results are coming from my laser hair removal...they are fantastic! I got it done just about a month ago and I have probably shaved my underarms three times and my legs three times. Talk about amazing! And that was only after one treatment!

- Maybe because I live under a rock, but I had no idea about the Phillip Lim for Target craziness. Since I wake up at five and don't get home until around seven or eight, you can bet my mind isn't focused on stalking to see what designer is about to release gorgeous handbags at Target. Jealous, much? YES! Even though I couldn't partake in the purchasing of these beauties, it gives me something to think about. Had I been able to buy one, I probably would have. And guess what? It would have been a complete impulse buy! EXACTLY what I have learned to avoid through this whole no-shopping-for-a-year process. Do I need a new purse? Nope. Are there tons of other options similar to the Phillip Lim ones? Yes. But knowing about the hype, my prior self would have been all over that. I have to pat myself on the back for taking this situation and turning it into a learning experience. "Good job, Sarah. You should reward yourself with a new bag on January 1st, 2014!" Totally kidding...kinda.

Now for the link up!!

RULES
- All I ask is you link back to my blog and link to a specific post!!
(some people have been forgetting this lately and, to be honest, it is really disrespectful. 7 out of 21 bloggers linked back to me last week. I will be deleting your post if you don't respect my one and only rule. Thanks!)

- Write about something fashion related (accessories, shoes, modeling, make-up, etc.)

A diamond and a helicopter

Monday, September 16, 2013

Today I am linking up with Jenni for Blogtember! Today's topic is a moment you would like to relive.

I think of my wedding day, not as a moment, but as a day...so I am going to spare you more wedding posts. Instead I choice to relive the moment Chris proposed.

When you have no idea you're about to be asked the most important question of your life, you might be off in la-la land and not paying much attention. Insert my face into this story.

You can read our full engagement story here, but I will summarize it for you. Warning: it involves Christmas lights and a helicopter, so you might want to pass this post along to those men out there looking for ideas (wink, wink).

Long, but perfect, story short...Chris and I went to his friend's graduation from UT Dallas. While pulling out of the parking lot after the ceremony Chris's Tahoe died right in the middle of the road. We sat there waiting for AAA to come. Obviously we got hungry and missed the graduation party (which we were never actually going to attend...), so after we were rescued Chris asked if we wanted to get something to eat. Duh.

Then, we pulled up to a private airport and I just about threw up. Imagine thinking you're going to dinner and you pull up to an airport. There waiting for us was a helicopter. Yup, a freaking HELICOPTER.

After shaking and managing to sign my life away in case of an accident, we boarded this little heli and were swept off into the sky. Chris told me this was an early Christmas present because I always told him how much I wanted to ride in a helicopter.

I remember thinking what a perfect moment that would be to propose, but we had just been on the side of the road for a couple hours and I never managed to see a ring, or a box, or anything hinting that some bling could be shoved in my man's pockets.

After we landed I was so excited about what had just happened that (of course) I asked the pilot to take our picture. Little did I know Mr. Pilot Man was in on Chris's plan and wham bam...you know what happened next.

I would love to relive that moment because it was SUCH a blur. One second I am soaring high in the sky and the next I asked the pilot to take a simple picture and there I was engaged to the man of my dreams.

Ladies, dreams really do come true.
