WIWW: A Sheer Skirt + Link Up!

Tuesday, May 14, 2013

I was iffy about this skirt. I mean it is "finger-tip" length, Mom. Don't worry. But the fact that it is see-through kind of makes it...interesting? I got it at TJ Maxx for $9.99 so I don't analyze it too much. This is the second time I've worn it and I would say I have gotten my monies worth!

The plain white tee is from TJ Maxx for $3.99.
Sandals from 8th Street Boutique for $5.00.
Necklace from shoplately.com for $11.00.

This could possibly be one of the cheapest outfits I have ever worn. I even shock myself sometimes at my cheapness. Go me!

Randomness:

- I use the phrase "I mean..." a lot. Just in what I wrote above I had to go back and delete it twice. I mean, total overkill :)

- Bear Naked Vanilla Almond Crunch Granola is like candy to me. I can't stop eating it!

- I have worked out one time in three weeks and consumed approximately 56 cookies instead. No shame. Hey, everyone is skinny when they are laying down on a towel at the beach, right?

- Speaking of the beach. We are going to Gulf Shores in a couple of weeks and I am super excited!

- Still hanging onto the beach topic, does anyone have any easy beach reads to recommend? I am addicted to Emily Giffin books, but I have already mowed through all of those, soooo...I enjoy mindless books that require no intellectual thinking :) Basically, if it is a chick-flick on paper, send it my way!

So, if you have any recommendations about beach reads or things to do in Gulf Shores, hook a sista up!

Now onto the WIWW Link Up!

10 Things That Make Me Really Happy

Disclaimer: When I was typing the title of this post I accidentally typed "10 Thongs That..." WOW, that could have led to a completely different post. Dodged that bullet!

1. Chris. He is truly my best friend. It is so weird when you meet that special someone and you know this is who God made for you. He is funny, actually quite hilarious, constantly makes me laugh, is my biggest fan, and can I mention smokin' hot?

2. Family. I am blessed with not only my wonderful family, but I inherited Chris's when we got married. Our families get along perfectly and the love we have for one another is incredible.

3. Wrigley and Bailey. To say I love these two pups is an understatement. Behind Chris and our family, they are my world. They brighten your day no matter what you have going on. They are the silliest and goofiest pups and our lives would be so boring without them!

4. Girl time. I have the most amazing group of friends a girl could ask for. Nothing makes me happier than all getting together and hanging out. Our topics range from one end of the spectrum to the other and I love it!

5. Vacations. Basically any vacation makes me happy. From the beach to the snow to NYC, I am a happy happy girl the moment to car pulls out of the garage and you can officially declare that you are on vacation.

6. Ice cream. Over cookies and cake, ice cream always makes me happy. Really happy. Maybe I'll go eat some right now...

7. Giving people gifts. I adore the look on people's faces when I give them a gift. It makes my heart happy knowing I made someone else happy!

8. Any spa treatment. Pedicures, manicures, massages, you name it, it makes me ecstatic!

9. Sitting out on a patio on a perfect day. Something about letting the breeze run through your hair, while sipping a fun drink, while sitting on a patio creates happiness. In Plano there is an area called The Shops at Legacy and every restaurant has a patio. It is my summer go-to when I need some outdoor eating.

10. God and all he has blessed me with. Seeing God and the things he has done for my family and I makes me giddy. Knowing I can pray to him at any time, and that he will listen, is the happiest feeling in the world.

What makes you happy?!

Weekend Shenanigans

Monday, May 13, 2013

Our weekend was filled with a graduation, moving the graduate out of her house, graduation/Mother's Day lunch at Salt grass, and a Sunday cat nap.

Chris and I made the two hour trek to Oklahoma early Saturday morning to watch his sister graduate from nursing school. Thank goodness they split the individual (nursing, business, etc.) schools up so it wasn't a brutally long ceremony like mine was

As I was watching her I kind of had regrets about not getting "hooded" as master's students get to do, but then I realized how much nicer it was to not have to sit through another long ceremony. I'll just dress up in my cap and gown later this week, snaps some pics, and no one will ever know I didn't actually walk.

Plus, for my undergraduate graduation, there was tons of drama because my Dad and brother had to leave the moment my graduation was over to drive four hours to catch my brother's playoff baseball game. One flat tire in the middle of nowhere later, and they drove up for the last pitch as my brother's team lost their last game of the season. It was not a good phone call. When your starting shortstop is 200 miles away watching his sister graduate...and that sister PROMISES there will be enough time to make it back...ya lesson learned. No more graduations jinxing playoff games for me! Whew. If you're not a live-or-die sports family like mine, then you probably think I'm crazy when I say I felt SO bad.

And what happened this year? My brother's senior year? I was at Lauren's graduation and my brother's team lost out in the playoffs. I have just concluded that if I attend a graduation on a day my brother plays baseball, they will lose. But not anymore since he is officially done. And hearing your 18 year old brother say they could have beat that team 9 out of 10 times as he is fighting back tears for the game he loves just about rips your heart out. BUT we've all been there and life goes on. I just hate hearing my loved ones cry. Blah, it breaks my heart!

Lauren getting "pinned" by her Mom!

I can't believe it is already mid-May. Where does time go?

This coming weekend is our first free weekend in about six weeks. So I am not going to say anything else about it, for the sake of jinxing it, but I can't wait to be a bum all weekend long!

How as you weekend? Did you attend a graduation? How was Mother's Day?
