2015 Recap || What a Year!

Thursday, December 31, 2015

Whew! What a year it has been! So many exciting things to reflect on, so let's get started.

January started out with our floor renovation. We replaced our old cream carpet with beautiful new laminate.

In February my sister-in-law got engaged and we threw her and her new fiancè an engagement party.

March brought on a few door changes at the Tucker home. I painted our front door black and we installed a doggy-door for the pups.

In May we spent 30 hours in DC to see the Nationals play and explore the city. My hometown was also devastated by the Memorial Day floods.

Even though I got around to posting about it in July, in June we went to Key West, Freeport, Bahamas, and Atlantis. We also celebrated THREE years of marriage on June 16th. Where has time gone!?

Something happened in July that I will remember forever: front row, in the pit for Sam Hunt, Hunter Hayes, and Lady A. It was a night to remember. All I can say is...those fan-girls are cray!

August is, by far, the most life-changing month of my life. On August 4th we found out we were expecting our first baby!! I wrote this post the day we found out, although it wasn't published until October.

On August 22nd my sister-in-law married the love of her life!

Viva la Mexico! In September we went to Cancun for my cousin's wedding.

And we can't forget about the State Fair and their corn dogs...all the heart eyes.

I didn't write about it because it really hadn't set in, but on October 16th we lost my Granddad. He was the light of our lives and was a couple weeks shy of his 90th birthday. He will be forever missed and we are all finding peace in the fact that he finally got to be reunited with my Mimi!

In November I went to my friend's gorgeous wedding, hit the half-way mark in the baby-making process, my brother got engaged, and we celebrated Thanksgiving.

December has been pretty relaxing. I haven't blogged that much, and haven't felt the pressure to. We visited the Magnolia Silos and revealed our Christmas card. I'll have a Christmas break update next week!

Wow, after writing all of that, and reflecting on all our blessings, I am so thankful for such a great year. 2016 might just be our biggest year yet, and I am so, so excited!

Happy last day of 2015!

WIWW: A Holiday Look + Link Up

Wednesday, December 23, 2015

The holidays are full of parties and fancy outings. From Christmas parties to New Year's Eve, most people around the world will be dressing up over the next couple weeks.

For girls, the stronger of the two sexes (ha!), we have to endure the picking out of the outfit, hair, and makeup! Guys have no idea how much we go through to get ready and look our best. A day they throw hair gel in is a day they consider a special occasion.

I've created a makeup look that can easily be tweaked to your preferences. If I had the lips for bold, red lipstick I would be rockin' that with this look. I focused on doll-like lashes and a bold eye, since I consider my eyes to be what draws the most attention on my face.

All the products I used can be found at Ulta. Some items are premium brands, where other items I use you might consider drugstore brand. I also started with my foundation already applied.

I start off with Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer. I am new to this facination, as I have only been using this for the last year. But, I am not a firm believer in this product!

I use this primer before I put on my under-eye concealer and on my lid before I apply my eyeshadow.

I also recently discovered Urban Decay's Naked Skin concealer. This stuff, coupled with the primer, keeps my dark circles in check all day long. I also use it on the (fingers crossed) occasional blemish I have pop up, but I usually just use this as an under-eye concealer.

I promise Urban Decay is not paying me to say all this, but I am now realizing most of the makeup I own is UD. I seem to not be the only one who loves it because these Naked palettes are everywhere.

I am in love with Foxy as a base color to start out with. My skin has a red tone to it, and Foxy sets the base color for the shadow that follows.

After Foxy, I honestly just mix and match colors to get the look I am going for. I always do a darker color on the outer corners and crease of my eye, followed by a medium tone on my lid, and end it with a bright color close to the inner corner. There is no rhyme or reason to my makeup madness and I never can recreate the same look twice because, if you've used the Naked Palette 2 before, you know how tempting it is to dip your brush in to ever color they offer!

I am all about the inexpensive eyeliner. I prefer brown because I'm so light-skinned. This L'Oreal Infallible eyeliner seems to be doing the trick for what I use it for. I put it on before I apply my false lashes so I have a line to guide me.

To create drama, I decided to add some doll-like lashes to my look. I love these Eylure lashes because no glue is required. You just peel the lash strip off and the glue is already attached!

I added a few swipes of my all-time FAVORITE mascara to the lashes to make them stad out a bit more. I've tried expensive brands, cheap brands, recommended brands, and everything in between and this Maybelline Colosal Mascara is just the flat-out best. Even many wedding makeup artists swear by it!

After the lashes are applied, I add liquid eyeliner just to help conceal the lash strip and add to the bold look I was going for.

I finish off my eyes with Tarte's Amazonian Clay Waterproof Brow Pencil. I always go with a waterproof brow pencil because how embarrassing would it be to have your brow running? Haha!

Lastly,  I set my foundation with NYC's Color Wheel. I use it all over and then concentrate on my cheeks to finalize the look.

This is definitely not my everyday look, but it is my go-to for weddings and special occasions. Lashes always glam up your look and just make a girl feel so fancy!

It is so fun to look back and see how this belly of mine has grown! I've been lucky to fit in to most of my non-maternity tops, but I think that might last a couple more weeks until my belly starts peeking out. Friday I will be 25 weeks and I can hardly believe it!
